It's not the job of the county commissioners to decide if we have too many golf courses, that job is left to the marketplace. If the development fits within the scope of the rezoning, then rezone. A golf course is only a small part of the project.

I think your premise is wrong, I don't think the 6% has anything to do with the 401K. What I'd like to know is if there is a defined benefit plan with a pension for county employees.
People that live in Souther Pines need to remember that Smithson led this Jihad against Pinehurst Schools. He is fundamentally wrong, but won't admit it. The fact is that Pinehurst Schools are better schools, produce better scores and better students. His theory is if they destroy the Pinehurst schools and make those schools go away, forcing the kids into the Southern Pines schools will make the SP schools better schools. That theory is flawed. We always have the lowest common denominator factor, and the the under performing kids always bring the class down, that's a fact.

How are they to regulate a plane if it takes off and lands outside the jurisdiction? Can they fly out of Carthage and be flown out of a pick-up over seven lakes, then land back again in Carthage?

I find it highly ironic that Bart Nuckols is a planner in the planning business, and has handed down some highly questionable decisions, now the dog bites back. Very funny.
