@enlightenme-I agree let's all find out who we can blame for this besides the kid that actually did it, Let's blame the parents for the way he was raised, the school for not having metal detectors at every door, the officer for wearing protective gear which may have saved his life!! Let's wait and watch while the attorney who will probably be appointed stands up and talks about how tough he has had it and he is such a nice kid and probably gets him off on probation and community service... If you want to know what happened ask some of the students they aren't stupid some of them have already mentioned it was a gang initiation and if you think there isn't a problem with that around here wake up....Some of you make reading these boards really funny because you really have no clue!!!!

Bflat-I got you my mistake, I still don't understand why people always jump on the prosecution or courts or Crime Lab (I know the crime lab messed up) but no-one ever talks about the extreme amount of money that is spent on the defense team who always and I mean always manipulate their client's case to get them a lesser charge...I am completely for a fair trial and let the jury make the decision but to blame someone's actions on their childhood or point the blame at something else especially on a case as straight lined as this makes no sense to me at all, and we wonder why people continue to follow these paths because they know that some attorney will get them a lesser charge....and they don't have to pay..got to love this society..
@Bflat give me a break "the death penalty isn't used because of the crime lab", that does not have anything to do with this psycho getting life, The Defense Attorney's got paid thousands of dollars to figure out how to keep him from receiving the Death Penalty. The Defense Attorney's always find a way to blame someone's actions on someone's past whether it was their tough childhood, or drugs it makes me sick. Why can't they stand up there and say I did it and get what they deserve, simple because of the overpaid Attorney's who tell them to shut up and do as I say and it will be in your best interest because they know how to manipulate the system....its that simple it wasn't the prosecutions fault this man said he did it several people saw him do it and he was caught in the act...that should be it period....I'am not against getting a fair trial but at some point something has to give....I understand the Crime Lab has messed things up and no innocent person should have to go to jail for something they didn't do but come on this Case has nothing to do with that.
Nice comment Olebaldy, I for one agree with random license and especially insurance checks getting in an accident with someone that does not have a valid license or insurance is a nightmare and it only takes two minutes to pull up show your license and off you go..Now I do not agree with pulling up to a license check and the officer does not tell you why the are conducting the checkpoint I think they should be informative to why they are stopping you but there are two many people riding around with out valid licenses just take a moment and look at the court docket...and I agree with Olebaldy if the Supreme Court says they are ok then I abide by them, and besides why should I get upset with the police its the Courts and attorney's that are making the laws....

Second of all I cant think of more approachable officers than Foxfire I have needed their assistance at the Golf Course and they were Very approachable and professional you need to get a life...

I for one and happy to see Officers out checking to make sure people are insured and actually have a valid drivers license regardless of the time, If doug ever gets hit by someone who has no license or insurance he will understand. Also I would rather see the officers out then sitting at a store or donut shop oh but let me guess doug would complain about that too...
I am not questioning whether Doug is a standup guy, Dont know him. All I am saying is if I am at my house and I hear a noise and decide to shoot my pistol at the area of the noise and lets say it goes through the wall and bounces off of something and strikes my neighbors CHILD who passes away. How would you feel about it then would you honestly sit here and say it was an accident I shouldn't be charged, I very seriously doubt it...
I agree it was an ACCIDENT he did not intend to kill his mother but someone has to be ACCOUNTABLE for their actions and those actions took someones life, I am sorry but it does not matter if he meant to do it or not. Now I am NOT saying he should get life or the death penalty please but he should receive something for his negligence. Here lies the problem no one wants to be accountable for their actions anymore, lets blame it on the other guy....enough said...
