I believe that if someone wants to wear a helmet, they should have that choice. I have been riding a motorcycle for over 40 years, and find that the biggest cause of accidents is automobile drivers not being alert. I can't count the number of times that some oncoming blue hair turned left, right in front of me. The common comment "I didn't see you". I lived in a helmet-free state, and the number of motorcycle accidents actually went down. This was attributed to the fact that motorcycle riders were more cautious when not wearing a helmet. I personal wear one, no matter what state I ride in. It is MY choice to wear one. With the new generation of texting, facebook, twitter people, it makes it even more challenging. By and large, motorcycle riders are far better drivers than most automobile drivers.

The problem with these progressive libs is that they want everyone to do THEIR research. If they were followers of the Constitution, and the rights of responsible, legal gun owners, they would already know that there are more benefits to having a gun and not needing it, than to needing a gun and not having it.

Here's the REAL news, JH. There were between 800,000 to 2.5 million violent crimes prevented by licensed gun owners last year. There were 19,000 accidental overdose deaths by prescription drugs. There were between 14,000 and 17,000 accidental shootings. There are over 100,000,000 registered guns in the US.

JimHeim. Doesn't look so good. Well, child deaths are just one part of the picture. To balance things out maybe our resident gun experts can point out all of the incidents last week where plucky gun-toters saved the day. With all of the senseless deaths, there must have been a lot of good stuff to make it worth all that loss of life. Right?

Why don't you mention all the deaths, robberies, shootings, abductions, rapes, etc. that were prevented by someone with a lawfully owned and carried firearm? Those statistice outnumber yours by 500%!! Libs don't want anyone to know that. Of course, they learned that from their leader.

Hey David, NObama is looking for a few good men. He has a tendency to appoint clueless people. You could be at the top of his list.

Scott, It's no wonder why the bill was defeated. NObama once again distorted facts. The people are fed up with this pandering and lying to them. When he doesn't succeed in cramming a lie down the throats of the voters, he whines like a little girl and blames everyone in the free world.

Just wait until Oblaimacare takes $716BILLION of our "paid in money" out of Medicare to pay for this monster. Doctors won't get paid, and hospitals will be shorted as well.

Your figures are a little low, Middleman. Latest numbers are 2.7 Trillion!!!. Guess where Nobama is getting that money from????????? Surely not the 47%!

Mr Bryant, if you think it's expensive now, wait until the government makes it "affordable".

The commissioners should go one step further and require background checks as well. Anyone convicted of a felony while on the dole should have their benefits revoked.
