Whenn I said two unnecessary wars that's what I meant. All we have accomplished is the death of thousands of young Anericans, the woulding of thousands others and for what? We are bogged down in both Afghanistan and Iraq and are spending millions of borrowed dollars every month. There was some sketchy reason for a quick strike in Afghanistan but no reason at all to invade Iraq. That "WMD" line Bush used to launch an offensive was phony. Iraq wasn't a threat to the U.S. and was actually a control over Iran. I used to be a conservative Republican but I got so disgusted with Bush and Cheney I accumulated a lot anger. I also can't vote for Obama so i have no recourse. Our Congress is owened by Israel and our Treasury is owned by China. And wait until things start to get really tough!

I didn't vote for Obama and still wouldn't but I have to confess that I have some sympathjy for him. ?There is no doubt that he inherited a fiscal mess from the Bush/Cheney gang who spent trillions on two unnecessary wars. Unfortunately, his proposed solution to the job problem won't work because any jobs he creates will be short-term and involves taking money from one part of the economy and giving it to another part. The 20% unemployment rate will be with us for a long time because the manufacturing jobs are now in China and will remain there. Offhand, the only solution I can think of is reducing manufacturing costs by dropping the minimum wage to some compettive figure which will never happen because it is politically and emotionally unacceptable.

Many months ago there was an effort to pass "puppy mill" legislatiion which was opposed by the National Rifle Association, the American Kennel Club, lobbyists for puppy mill operators, hunters and politicians like that great humanitarian Senator Harris Blake. The bill would have been a good start on reducing the number of starving and unwanted dogs which end up in animal shelters. What Moore County really needs is a licensing law which would require owners to register their dogs and bring ownership and reproduction under some control.

A great letter. Shooting two eight month-old puppies was an outrage. Obviously, the shooter made little or no attempt to capture the dogs since he shot them only 20 minutes after he arrived. The puppies did not endanger anyone and shooting them was cruel and unnecessary. The writer of the letter "Human Safety Must Come First" apparently doesn't like dogs and is probably hostile to all animals.including humming birds.

As the former owner of two small weeklies I think that Bouser is doing a great job. Getting the facts and detaills on a breaking story isn't easy and someone has to make the decision as to when and what to print. There are also deadlines to be met and the lag time involved in the writing and getting the story to the printer. I actually think that the Pilot is the best small newspaper I have ever encountered.

You are way behind the times. The Chinese now dominate computer manufacturing and Dell, Hewlett Packard, etc. all now have their computers built in China. They are also dominating LED production. They have first-class factories and are building huge office complexes and apartment buildings. You don't make computer chips in a mud hut. They Chinese are very smart and very dangerous. The automobile market is very hot and European companies are selling hundreds of thousands of units. Forget the coolie on a bicycle.and the forced labor. .

In the last presidential election I had nowhere to go. I didn't want to vote for Obama and the Republican Party put up two squirrels, McCain and Palin. Oboma turned out to be somewhat better than I anticipated in several areas but he appears to be weak and unable to make clear decisions. I would prefer someone with business experience such as Romney but too many people will reject him becuse of his religion. I also don't like Obama's attitude toward legitimizing illegal aliens as a means of capturing the Hispanic vote..

I am frightened by the US congress and the President. Does that make them terrorists?

Certainly not under current economic conditiions but the amount a worker earns is relative to the status of the economy. I remember when teachers were happy to have a job paying $3,000 a year which would be equivalent to be equivalent to $85,000 or more today. The point is that the minimum wage causes an escalation of production costs leading to rampant inflation. The government should not be telling business owners how much they have to pay their employees. If you have ever had a business you must know that it is frequently difficult enough to meet the payroll without someone hitting you with costs you may not be able to handle. That is one big reason there are so many business failures today. The Chinese businessman doesn't have that problem and they are eating our lunch.
