The question is. What if someone knows my name and address then goes to the polling place and gives my name and address and votes in my name. The only way that would be identified as a problem is if I go to the cast my vote and I am told that I have already voted. How would that ever be prevented? A voters card is not issued when a person registers in North Carolina. The polling officer does not ask any question other that your name and address. I do not have to bring any documentation that validated I am who I claim to be. So is a photo ID really unreasonable? Maybe I'll vote as Dusty Rhodes in the next election since I know his name and address and several other who post on here.

Max's in Southern Pines is shuttered so the Waffel House may be welcome. Betsy's Crepes is always busy.

Why do we need two political parties? China gets along very well with just one. And they have modern airports, rapid transit, hydroelectric power the list just goes on.

Has anyone considered that we may be better off putting more money in the collection plate instead of sending it to Washington?

There may be something to "you can't reason with a liberal".

North Carolina

JH, from the Washington Post

In-person early voting began on Thursday, which has allowed Democrats to gain a lead. While the GOP led significantly on absentee ballots, adding early in-person voting has tilted the scales to a 51 percent-to-31 percent Democratic lead.

We should note, though, that many of these may be conservative Democrats voting for Romney (more than 20 percent of Democratic primary voters, for instance, voted for “uncommitted” over Obama in the primary), and Democrats won the early vote by almost the exact same margin — 51-30 — in 2008.

JH, you are assuming that all democrats voted for Obama. A huge mistake. 54.7% is the percentage of voters who are registered Democrats, not reflecting how they voted.

The worst thing you can be in Moore county is a land owner. You can own it but you can not develop it. It must remain pine trees and sand forever.

Why not use the Social Security Card? I know it can be forged but everyone has one and it is used as identification in all sorts of ways already.

There are twenty two active gangs in Moore county. Do you really want the police fooling with political signs?
