I KNOW A SINGLE MOTHER WITH A 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER MY WIFE AND I HAVE KIND IF ADOPTED TO A DEGREE......SHE HAS BREAST CANCER AND SOME OTHER SERIOUS PROBLEMS.......SHE WAS FIRED FROM HER JOB AS A DAY CARE EMPLOYEE WHICH THOUGH WRONG........HAS STILL NOT BEEN RESOLVED IN 8 MOS. THE STATE SAYS IT IS DUE TO A BACKLOG OF CASES......SHE GETS 127.00 A WEEK IN STAMPS.,....THEY HAVE NO CAR. THEIR CHURCH PAYS THEIR RENT. WE HELP WHAT WE CAN AND MY WIFE TAKES HER AND BUYS FEMANINE PRODUCTS AND HOUSEHOLD STUFF AND EXTRA FOOD THAT STAMPS DO NOT BUY. THEY DID NOT ASK FOR THIS. SHE CAN'T WORK BECASUE SHE HAS NO CAR.....AND NO ONE WILL HIRE HER BECAUSE SHE STAYS SICK FROM THE CHEMO. SOCIAL SERVICES TAKES HER TO CHAPEL HILL TWICE A WEEK FOR TREATMENTS BUT SHE HAS TO PAY FOUR DOLLARS FOR EACH ROUND TRIP......YET HAS NO INCOME.......NO DISABILITY......NO WELFARE YET.......ONLY A BARE MINIUM MEDICAID WHICH SHE STILL HAS TO PAY A CASH CO-PAY FOR SOME MEDS.SHE IS A KIND AND HARDWORKING AND CARING LADY.....HER FAMILY IS A PILE OF CRAP AND HAD ABANDONED HER. IT COULD BE THE PLIGHT OF MANY OF US READING THIS.....NOW SOCIAL SERVICES IS TRYING TO TAKE HER DAUGHTER BECAUSE SHE IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH TO EAT.
i TOO HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM WITH DEADBEATS SOAKING UP FREE STUFF.....BUT I AM AT A LOSS TO FIGURE OUT WHY SHE HAS SLIPPED THROUGH THE SYSTEM....WHAT CAN BE DONE?
THATCHER- GOODS POST. IF YA MAKE THE MISTAKE - OWN IT!
All the above is true.......look in our mirrors........really old houses had no closets because no one owned anything to put in them.......My grandfather had 2 pairs of overalls and a suit. My father owned one suit from 1968 until his death in 2005, the rest of the time he wore recycled unifrom type clothes - by choice of course - he had money to do better - but it was not in him like many of our older parents.
I am ashamed to say that I realized that I had too much stuff when I had an 800 sq foot shop building burn and hardly missed anything in it ---and it was packed. In defense of many of us having too much stuff, I will say that not much lasts for long anymore. I still have my grandfather's bulding level he bought in the 1920's...and it still works fine......it is cast iron. I doubt my kids will be using anything of mine in 85 years from now.
Make it a great day!
Very Good!.......I liked the gunfighter comment......
The only thing I could have added would have been about "TIME." How precious it is and how fast it moves. I doubt any of us older ones would argue that!
Yep...they're just the playground bullies////// I'm with ya thatch! They'll probably say Obamacare is a good idea too.
does anyone know why the bass violin in the corner has 6 strings?
Enough with the gun crap - I was glad to see how the vote came out............I thought about owning a gun when those 2 mad bombers were running thru the streets of Boston......no one knowing whose door they were going to kick in. I tried to picture the people of Boston who oppose guns......and how they looked hiding in a closet with a baseball bat or a golf club with no better way to defend themselves. I wonder how many are going this week to get permits. I only had hoped the man who found him hiding in the boat had been an ex-marine and took him out like the scum he is. Now we'll pay millions in health care to heal him and try him. Some stupid people are allready claiming his rights were violated. It's gonna be typical American grandstanding at it's best I am sure.
