Aberdeen Residents Raise Concerns About Police Conduct
When a law enforcement agency places such emphasis on traffic enforcement and fails to focus on community, there will always be this type of reaction when a complaint is brought out into public ridicule. I have heard from several Aberdeen officers of their intent to write a certain amount of tickets during their shift. When I hear this, it makes me wonder what leadership they have at the department that condones this behavior. Whether they like it or not, law enforcement is a service industry, however it does not have the typical tangible measurements of success that most service industry businesses have. It can not measure success based on profit, law enforcement can only measure success based on customer (the community) satisfaction or dissatisfaction. This simply means that in order to be effective, we must sincerely have the communities best interest. We must be able to handle each situation independently and not routinely. We can not have the mentality of causing hate and discontent among our customers, we must have the mentality of providing effective police service and fostering a since of confidence within our communities in regards to the police department. When we focus on traffic and forget about the importance of community relations, we tend to be perceived as unapproachable and ineffective in meeting the needs of our citizens.

Vass Police Undergo Overhaul in Past Year
recondo, I don not believe I was reading the same article as you. I did not see anywhere in the article where the writer insulted any former chief. Being a life long Vass residence and former police officer you are quite aware that the previous year before Chief Deel arrived there was no leadership in the department. Chief Bibey was battling cancer and unable to work. Can you imagine a year with leadership? You yourself was a small town police chief, can you imagine leaving your position for a year and then returned when there was no leadership in place while you were gone. I see where things could get a little messy. I also live in Vass and have been a member of several emergency services departments. I am impressed with the Vass Police Department, its officers and its new Chief. I would recommend if you haven't met him yet, stop by and see him.
