Cantstandya because of my line of work I do access to some things that other person does not have it. Not only these 2 men are legal (they were born in the US) but they parents too. If Lopez were not legal or if he was using any fake documents when he was arrested on March ICE would come and get him. The minute that they booked him and got his info ICE would put a hold on him and they would come and pick him up. And I am not offended. I really understand where you are coming from.
and cantstandya you were right about that there were something else about Pope several weeks ago. The only thing that you did not remember it was that the Lopez guy was arrested too. http://www.thepilot.com/news/2012/mar...
cantstandya: when you mentioned something about "their own country" which country were you Thinking? and what make you think that they are illegals? Just because they are hispanics does not say that they are illegals. Both of them are american citizens. They were born in the same land that you and me were born. And I can tell you that they will not use any attorney paid by our tax money. And before you jump to any conclusion they parents are legal too. And you might ask how do I know? Easy...I live in Robbins, and when I heard about it I checked before jumping to any conclusion.
I agree the system starts home. The problem is when our children leave our home and them face another "system" that will erase everything the home "system" has taught them. Sad...
buskwon I did not say that this guy was innocent. And I loved the way that just "cut and paste" my gramatical error....kudos for you. I would like to apologize to Mr. Bustedfriend, I used his account to expose my thoughts. But I really think that we must do something to re write the system. I do not hold the whole truth in my hands, I just have an idea here and another there. But if we could get our ideas together and just for a moment to put all the hateful feelings aside, I think things could be done. I mean we see teachers been charged with having sex with students all over this nation (and in our county too, one was fired couple months ago at North Moore High School). Children bringing weapons to school, children spitting on their teachers' face...and the list continues and continues...I am not here to say that I am right, or that this guy is innocent. I just tried to put in words the concern and discomfort that I feel about the whole system. I am a just a mother that worries with the future of my children. Period.
Another Obama son, another illegal, another one that is not going to the rally...it is so easy to ctiticize anybody that doe not agree in what we do. There are so many hate, prejudice, racism...it is about the time to stop with all this crap. This is a son, a grandson, a nephew. It is a PERSON. Somehow the system is failing here. So let's put our ideas together and try to at least start something to fix this system. I agree that "we need work farms instead of prison cells with TV and all the other amenities". I remember back in the days when the consequences for a crime like that or even when we would get home with a not from school saying that we had disrespected a teacher. Boy...the consequences were not a day of time out only. When a child go to school before anything what they will learn is dial 911. And every time a parent try to educate their child (I am not talking about a parent that beats up a child). I have seen so many children lying to teachers saying that their parents had hit them, just because they were mad at their parents. And because they were so young that even did not know all the legality involved in this "little lie".
And "justjoe" actually one of THE BEST neurologist in Moore County is from COLOMBIA, and the head of the Outpatiet Behavioral Service of the Carolinas is from COLOMBIA too.
Maybe it is not a case of racism, but in my opinion I think we should be more careful and we should provide more info to backup what we say or write. "The price is that the youth have no future." I really do not agree with it. When somebody is trying to push to the back of the line what do you do as far as in your job, classroom, etc. You study more, you get more education, there are so many good places for you to go and go back to ths school. What it seems is that our young people today (not all of them) are more interested in texting, drinking, ipods, ipads, and all the "is" that they can find. And the sad point here is that we as a parent are the ones that provide all these things for them. Back in the days I remember that I would not have time for so much "luxury". I would have to get home, eat something and get my homework done. Then I would go and clean my room, help in the house. When I was old enough to do to some work around the town, I would do everything I was doing plus the job. And this money would be devided in 3 parts: church, college, and anything that I would like to buy for me (but my parents would have to approve it). We are living in a time that we can not only just sit down and think that everything will fall in place when get out school. It is like in sports: study harder, work harder, keep on and on. It is about the time for us to start take responsabilities. And another thing now the immigrants are the only ones blames for all these diaseases, and low standar of living? Have you ever been in the country? You should one day drive on the back roads of Moore County, in the country and I garantee you that you will see a lot of non immigrants living in these situations.
May God bless you. Congratulations. I was so impressed with so much talent. Your voice is a gift from God. That is for sure!
