What is so appealing about Obama ? What are his strengths ? Do his strengths align with the needs of this country ? What is his single most important policy ? Will the current set of Czar's transition into congressionally appointed positions if Obama is re-elected ?
.... Emerson advocates self-reliance as a starting point, not as a goal. My opening statement is from an analysis of Emerson's numerous lectures on Self - Reliance. I believe that Mr Ward's comment was meant in this very fashion. We , as a nation, must almost start over or go BACK TO THE FUTURE so to speak. We as a nation built a very strong foundation of hard work, strong family values, moral compasses that made society very easy to navigate in and most importantly the understanding that freedom is earned, preserved and protected. We, as a nation, must not "start over " from what we have learned and improved in many area's : civil rights, technology, manufacturing, aerospace, medicine, etc ... but we must preserve and "re-teach" the items I previously listed. I wish there was an even playing field so to speak in life, but unfortunately that is not reality. Unfortunately in life you have got to do it all ... I will leave this comment with this observation. I was leaving the video store with my family the other evening. I held the door open for my family as they walked out. I saw 2 young ladies walking in, and it was cold, so I held the door open for them. They were aprox (13-16) and I could hear their conversation as they walked in. It was about someone ( gossip ) and everyother word was a f-bomb and/or some other cuss word. They walked past me, my family, did not "tone down" their comments, did not say thank you for holding the door and in fact was loud and distracting in the video store .... Teen agers will be teen agers, but they did not have the social awareness that their language and behavior was unacceptable. It was about self gratification, tearing down the person they were talking about and in general a complete disregard for anyone else around them. Perhaps Mr Ward's comments are a great place for this country to start ..... and self reliance is not a conservative tone ; it about building a strong foundation to start your life.
