I hope that you consider the claims of Christ - as I said God so loved the world....

packwillet, yes, religions may exist for control but a relationship with the living Christ is not about control

God gives us all free will to accept or reject the Gospel message that God so loved the world that he sent His son Jesus to die on a cross to save us from our sins.

No contol, free will to accept or reject the gift of salvation through Jesus Chris who die for the sins of the world. That is the Good News!!

The Pilot article was about a local church that chooses to have an openly homosexual man, with a partner, being appointed as the spiritual leader of their church, not about the direction of our country as far as protected civil rights What is legal and constitutionally protected is not the same discussion as a church position on the qualifications for pastors/priest or the debate of marriage in the Church

If the church believes the Bible to be the Word of God, believes that Christ came to save sinners, then certainly church leadership is a relevant issue to discuss among those that proclaim to follow and worship Christ

current position of Methodist Church:

Meanwhile, the United Methodist Church does support the inclusion of homosexuals in the congregation, and homosexuals can take part in sacraments and programs. However, the UMC does state that "the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching," so the church does not allow homosexuals to become ordained ministers. The UMC will not conduct homosexual marriages and will not allow them to be held in their churches.

you and others may disagree with this stance

Westboro Babtist ;It is headed by Fred Phelps and consists primarily of members of his large family;[5] in 2011, the church stated that it had about 40 members

again, very few numbers to use as an example

Let's be real, Westboro Babtist is out of the main stream of Christian denominations. Why would you not discuss the Methodist Church's stance on the issue instead of choosing a group that no reasonable person would support?

I would most welcome an open discussion, but choosing such an example is a weak starting point.

Everyone should read http://healthland.time.com/2013/02/20/bitter-pill-why-medical-bills-are-killing-us/ - I once thought local hospitals were to serve the community in a just and fair manner, eyes are open now. What happens next, who knows?!!

The occult has been around forever, but just surprising that respected (?) institutions like the Pilot feature such
