I am not void of compassion and truly feel for people who have landed in a bad situation due to circumstances beyond their control, but can't help wonder why those who can ill afford one child would choose to continue to have more children.

Sounds like the commissioners' lack of authority on the matter in this case didn't stop them from sending letters to the gov. & reps as they stated was their reason for not taking the same action ~ to write letters ~ in the matter of another issue brought before them recently. A sorry excuse that doesn't pass any of the time if doesn't pass all of the time.

Yes sir, I am an animal lover, however I have seen animals that needed killin'. Those that were beyond rehabilitation because infection had set in for so long and they were so terribly emacitated from going astray when their hunter owners failed to retrieve them because they got away from the pack and could not be located that it truly was best to kill them, or to put it nicely, euthanize them. I used to hesitate, but having no one in authority to turn to for relief makes me much less hesitant. Besides, none of the law abiding, highly moral hunters' dogs ever stray onto land where they don't belong so they have nothing to worry about.

I sure am glad that none of her decent, law abiding hunting friends with such high morals will not be missing their dogs when they cross my property again. I own guns too and although the existing laws do not protect my rights against dogs that trespass, it does protect my right to dispose of nuisance animals. "Oh, gosh, Mr. Animal Control Officer, it sure looked like a coyote when I fired at it." And since they run in packs, maybe I can take out two or three at a time and save ammo ! And when they cross the road in front of me, I won't bother to swerve any longer. Hhhmmm, maybe then I'll charge the owner with the damage to my car ! If it is not under the control of its owner, it has the potential to be dangerous and it is impossible to control them once they are released.

§ 67‑4.5. Local ordinances.

Nothing in this Article shall be construed to prevent a city or county from adopting or enforcing its own program for control of dangerous dogs. (1989 (Reg. Sess., 1990), c. 1023, s. 1.)

According to data presented at the commissioners meeting 43% of court proceedings are for non-criminal cases and the old court house is now the tax department.

Looking into a camera and bold-faced lying is not what I'd call "very truthful and honest" as she put it. He gives credence to the old saying that you can tell when a politician is lying if his lips are moving. How can you further emasculate someone who doesn't have the fortitude to claim their own offspring ?

Fox hunters also use this practice and making a report to authorities about having a pack of dogs running loose across your property only generates a response of "dogs can't be charged with trespassing." I believe the owners should be able to be charged with it when their animals run wild. I own companion dogs and if I were to dump my animals on the side of the road it would be considered illegally abandoning them. Sadly, many dogs are not recovered or reclaimed by tracking devices and go stray and starve or are killed in the highways or die of emaciation. Running "dawgs" is a deep rooted practice and will only be ended if there is a loud outcry against it. Does anyone know if there will be public speaking allowed at the meeting tonight ? Mr. Davis, I saw where you started a petition against tethering and would like to know if you would consider coordinating one against running hunting dogs.

@lovenlife, since you seem so bent on small grammatical errors, respect is something due someone, not do. Interest is piqued, not peaked. Maybe you and the poster you criticized can attend the same remedial class. So many petty remarks, not just by you, but by others as well.

To get back on point, which three corporations are in a predicament ? I didn't see where the article by Mr. Chappell named them, only ones that were not in trouble. What's up with that ?? Well, at least I spelled his name correctly.

Intended sarcasm aside, how beautifully stated. Does anyone know when the next public hearing on this issue is sheduled ? We truly need to let our VOICES be heard.

What about private water wells on adjacent properties ? Has any consideration been taken for what impact this development will have on water supplies for neighboring properties ? No doubt if golf courses are built that nearby wells will be contaminated and the owners of these properties do not have alternate water supply. No one in their right mind would want to drink or would force their neighbor to drink water contaminted with golf course pollution. I think this is too serious of a consequence for the county to overlook.
