The measure of evil necessary to withhold an apology from a person you just shot in the face by mistake or accidentally hit with a car or unintentionally dropped a tree on.

I thought I did answer, sir. "no doubt it was" (an accident),However,if it is true that no apology was offered, it is beyond my comprehension to imagine there is no evil there, whether the action was intentional or not.

Now that we've had a tutorial on dropping trees near structures and the benefits of insurance can we think of some other ways in which "regulating" stupidity may be a good idea? Intoxication may be an excuse for those "Hey, y'all watch this" moments, but in some instances neglect may cause death. Does lack of malice remove responsibility ? How many victims of theft had safes in their houses for the proper storage of guns that were stolen out of their unlocked cars ? Many acts of carelessness lead to weapons winding up in the wrong hands. The number of guns that "go missing" from gun dealers would shock most people. Whose hands are these falling into ? Some deranged person with a bunker for the final showdown ? Weren't there concerns about the mental condition of R. Stewart that caused him to be declined a membership ? Did he legally own his weaponry ? If guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. This is the reason there is no intention to take away our right to bear arms, but we need to improve drastically on doing so responsibly. I have never been able to confirm that Richard apologized publicly or privately for blasting his hunting companion in the face, which is unconscienable in the case of an accident, but which no doubt it was. It proves the point that even brilliant persons sometimes do really stupid things.

I suppose he does not consider ignitable kitchen spigots and contaminated drinking water as a reason for properly stringent application processes. Who is going to pay for the damaged roads from unusually heavy traffic ? What does he think about the forced pooling of property that has yet to be dealt with ? There are some things that are risky enough to take slowly because the potential damage cannot be undone. It is also questionable whether the supply here in NC is even worth going after. Putting the fox in the henhouse is a conflict of interest and never a good idea.

If I am to understand, there were no criminal charges filed for the "accidental" shooting at the gunshow here in NC, however if you injure someone by accidentally hitting them with your car, there are charges against you for traffic violations. No one is made to carry insurance with gun ownership and use, but car insurance is mandatory. Something seems amiss. Pinehurst had a string of thefts that included items stolen from unlocked cars, some of the items were handguns. I agree that you cannot regulate stupidity out of the equation, but neither can laws subvert the actions of the lawless. Evil lurks even where it is not suspected. I mean honestly, does anyone truly believe Dick Cheney's hunting companion was mistaken for a pheasant ?

Mr. Capel can't truly believe "It takes a natural disaster for politicians to take advantage of voters’ wallets.", can he ? With politicians, it's a 24/7/365 directive. When the opportunity arises, sure they'll use a disaster to hide things under, but if we would all pay a little closer attention, they do it ALL THE TIME. Blatantly even, when they decide to show up for work, that is. After all, their wallets are pretty much immune to the decisions that they make that affect all of the rest of us. They have lobbyists that look out for them regardless of fiscal cliff or natural disaster.

Maybe I just don't understand the judicial system, but $15K seems a small amount to hold a convicted felon for illegal possession of a firearm and armed robbery.

I can remember when I was a small kid my older sisters were not allowed to be hawkers for the Pilot, so my brothers would purchase papers and share them. Eventually, females were allowed to purchase papers to sell. And, dear sir, although I'm sure it is in reference to the high tech nature of combat and withdrawal of forces that you remark on the existence of fights on the front lines, but somewhere our own are in foxholes, Dover Airbase stays sadly occupied receiving the fallen, so please remember that so long as there is one in harms way, they do exist.

I mostly agree, but do not think "The Clintons' experience was a rare exception". Many a philandering leader has had an adulteress affair yet still had relative success as a leader or president. Kennedy, MLK Jr., etc. etc. etc............
