Now, in addition to the IRS admitting to targeting Tea Party groups, we find that the Obama administration has been wiretapping or otherwise obtaining information from phone calls made by reporters for the Associated Press: http://bigstory.ap.org/article/govt-obtains-wide-ap-phone-records-probe. Dark times indeed if true. Cheers!
MC7-- "Where was the OUTRAGE THEN" (when Nixon used the IRS against his "enemies")? I for one was not "outraged" at the time, because I was only 10 years old. Nonetheless, Nixon's use of the IRS in this regard was part of the reason for his impeachment. Cheers!
DR-- Put aside that the Benghazi "talking points" were changed at least 12 times to delete any reference to Islamic terrorists being soley responsible. The point is that everyone in the administration knew from the beginning that the supposed "anti-Muslim video" had nothing to do with the Benghazi attack. Absolutely nothing. When the bodies of our dead were returned to Dover three days later, Hillary Clinton...in her Dover speech to the families and the world...again blamed the video for the incident: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2012/09/14/obama_clinton_honor_fallen_americans.html. To make matters worse, after her speech, she met privately with the victims' respective family members and assured them that the U.S. government was going to prosecute the man who made the video: http://freebeacon.com/benghazi-victims-father-on-hillary-clintons-claims-i-knew-that-she-wasnt-telling-the-truth/. To me, and to many others, her behavior was grossly disrespectful to the victims' families...who want and deserve the truth. They, and the rest of America, have been lied to, stonewalled, and mocked as "conspiracy theorists." God forbid it was your child or family member killed there, you too would want to know the truth, and I suspect you would be angry if you were told a bunch of lies. That's the beginning to the Benghazi cover up. Cheers!
DR-- I think geoff is correct about the IRS story, and even if he is not, he should be. The IRS story is not a left or right issue. All reasonable citizens would reject and oppose any effort by any politician to use the IRS for political purposes of any kind. The current explanation that this was merely the work of "low-level employees" defies common sense, but even if true, is just as dangerous as if the low-level employees had been following orders from those higher up. Rogue IRS employees, whether low-level, mid-level, or high-level, should concern all of us. That the IRS has already admitted targeting Tea Party groups should concern you (a liberal) as much as it concerns me (a conservative). The old saying, "The power to tax is the power to destroy," is neither liberal nor conservative, and we should have zero tolerance for abusive targeting by the IRS. Cheers!
I think JimRussell44 had it right in the first post...time marches on. To me, if we have to teach cursive, then why not calligraphy? Are they both about as useful? In the bigger scheme of things, there are more important things to argue about. Cheers!
aggou-- Very well-said. I've posted here often that the Bible has no tier-system of sins...this one is worse than that one. Homosexuality is the same sin as my sin of lust...or another's sin of envy, greed, or anger. And all of us, gay or straight, were born into sin. A gay person did not choose to be gay, any more than I chose to be lustful, or you chose to be envious of others. To me, there is no Biblical support for gays being more "sinful" than anyone else, and to be more specific, everyone else. I would hope that my Christian brothers and sisters here would reflect upon this, and remember that God is the judge of these things...not us, not me, and not you. If we all loved our neighbors as we love ourselves, we would have no need for this conversation. My best to you. Cheers!
