As normal I read what Dusty writes and agree with almost none of it, yet I'm still glad to see him participating on these blogs again. Does that mean I need help? Glad to here from you again DR.
What the hell? What did I miss here? Who was threatening who and why is Dusty leaving? We all fight on here daily what was so different in this case? I don't agree with Dusty or Moonie about much, she's even called me a mysoginist in the past, but I would not want to see her leave. C'mon!
AP, You are not "mixed up" as Moonie says. You're coments are very well thought out. Well done. By the way, to everyone whatever happened to the poster here by the name Prometheus?
Again I have to say that giving gays the rights that "married" people have should be considered a civil rights issue IMHO. I suggest a civil union law of some sort that will address that. People that know me know that I'm a life long conservative and I think this law is in no way a "conservative" law, remember we are suposedly against government intrusion into peoples lives. Love is love who are we to dictate what love is? We should govern OURSELVES according to our religion and our state laws. A gay couple that is in a loving relationship in no way affects my relationship with my wife. This is not conservatism. I don't beleive my church should condone it (they do though, PCA) BUT it should not be my governments business.
JD first, citing The New Republic is about the same as citing MSNBC or The Democratic Underground. Second the fact that you felt compelled to basically copy verbatum wiki on the definition of venture capitalist tells me you aren't on real firm ground on that one either. I will help you with that, and as far as being a lifelong politician one term governor and some alsorans doesn't make you one. Now, venture capitalist also try and aid failing companies that have maybe a good business premise and no structure, failing or inept processes, or failing or inept management. They do this by injecting the company with the capital (money) needed to keep them going try to cut the waste, change or replace faulty management and processes turn the company profitable sell its stake in the company for a profit and move on to the next opportunity. Some you win and some you lose, Bain did both, but at the very least a company that was headed for failure because of practices or lack of capital was bought time. I think someone who has made a living by investing his money in sick or failing companies and turning a profit might be better than...
Our Presidents past professions. Took general 200 level business and econ classes, went to law school, was a community organizer (I know you don't know what he accomplished while doing this so feel free to use wiki in your response again) Was a state senator who voted "present" more than any other member, not all that "gutsy" huh. Then became a US senator and began running for President immediatly. Oh I forgot he wrote two books about himself, and tought a law class. That about sum it up? Glad we could continue our conversation.
JD, define venture capitalist. After defining venture capitalist please explain how venture capitalist happen apon healthy companies and gutt them. Then explain to us how he can be a "career politition" while gutting healthy companies. Then we'll talk about the vast and varied career of our president.
I have an old Glenfield model 60 my Dad got me when I turned 12, he tought me the safe way to enjoy it, clean it and proper range etiquette, good memories with my Dad. I still have that old 22 in my gun safe with all the others I've aquired through the years. Brings back memories now every time I take it out to the range. Shooting sports are safe and alot of fun.
