Dear RKatrin, clearly, there is no money in greenways and bike paths, etc. The Van Camps and the Bell families are going for the big money with the commercial development of their respective properties. There is money to be made here. Residents should remember all this come the next election cycle. Southern Pines as we all know it will soon be gone.
"Moore Opportunity, an imaginative project to develop a website for promoting our county to the rest of the world." Is this not the purpose of the chamber's primary website? Seems unnessary and a waste of $. Why not just rework the chamber's website to present the area to prospects? The braintrust hard at work, again....

Taxing groceries and prescription drugs at 6.50%, while cutting income tax on the top bracket by 3%? Folks, let your elected representatives know how you "feel" about this initiative.
This typifies the challenge of small, privately owned manufacturers in the USA. Competition is keen, to say the least, driven by larger companies that source their manufacturing abroad, using low-cost production staff and lesser quality raw materials, and benefitting from lower operation costs and with fewer (or no) regulations. A small manufacturer can only do so much to compete. Once they have trimmed their expenses as low as possible, they are left to compete in a market where the average wholesale buyer is lured away by lower cost products, which usually equates to lesser quality goods. Lower price points eventually drive down quality. And low quality becomes the standard. Visit any "big box" home improvement store and check out the quality of materials, be they electrical or plumbing or HVAC, etc. Remember when these items where made domestically and the quality of those items vs. today's goods? Unfortunately, this trend continues, taking down a horrible path. So much of our quality-conscious smaller manufacturers are going the way of Smithson Industries. It's a shame.
Mr. Nagy, sir, with all due respect, it is not the role of the forum provider to control the conversation as long as the conversation stays within the rules/guidelines you establish. It comes across as weak and fearful. Moving forward, for the sake of your publication's integrity, I ask that you please keep the forums open until they are officially and permenently closed. If you feel the need to respond to postings in a timely manner, I suggest you or a representative take turns babysitting the conversation and respond to direct and indirect comments as you see fit.
Mr. Nagy: OK I have to ask.. What is the official explanation as to "why" the forum discussion on this topic has to be suspended/closed during the overnight hours? Thank you in advance for providing a response. On the surface, it seems as thought the publisher is fearful of something or is in need to try and control the conversation.
Dear cmpt. . . . Look at a map of Moore County or the state of NC. The northern-most part of US-1 in Moore County is not the northern part of Moore County. Google it, please. No argument. Just a visual indication of fact i.e. reality. And FYI" just because an interstate or intrastate roadway is designated North or South or East or West, that does not mean that is the actual compass direction. Look at I-40 from Raleigh to Wilmington; although that road is designated "East-West," it surely heads South per the compass reading. That is all. . . .
Town wants input, ay? How disingenuous can the Town government be? They spend $275k on Master Plan, soliciting input from residents, and then ignore that input, and set out on an irreversible course of pro-growth and crazy aggressive commercial development, completely undermining the character of the town, all to placate prominent local interests who put $ above all. And the town wants input again, ay? Right.....

New Website to Promote Moore Living
Why would this not just be accomplished via the chamber's primary website? Seems like a waste of time and $.
