My daughter picked up two cats from The Haven. I find it obscene that our government has the time to go after The Haven, but can't find the time to pass the Puppy Mill Bill. The Haven is seriously a haven for abused and unwanted animals, as well as those whose owners cannot care for them because of moving, deployments, etc. I have been to the SPCA and local animal shelters which kill hundreds of animals, and have almost passed out from the smells; at The Haven, there are few if any smells, and the animals are clean and well cared for. Without the deadlines or artificially created requirements, Ms. Spear could continue to run a caring, well operated place. I can just imagine how it would be run if the state takes it over!
