Proudhusband: “my wife pulled up some signs she was wrong in doing this and the courts will decide what her fate will be”

Finally something from this family that I can have respect for, owning up that it was wrong. The sign stealing itself wasn’t that bad, wrong, yes, but there is a lot of outrage at the justifications used and trying to throw the daughter under the bus by saying the daughter came up with the idea. Kids come up with a lot of ideas that aren’t good or right, but that is where the parent comes in and sets them straight, not join in to enable bad choices. If Heidi would have just said she had a crazy moment and made a bad decision, this probably wouldn’t have blown up as big as it has. Instead, she chooses to keep fanning the flames with posts and letters that she knows will incite more anger. Obviously the friends of the family here are upset with some of the derogatory things being said, but it should be an anticipated consequence of writing a letter titled “Sign Theft Was the Will Of God”. Besides being presumptuous to claim to know God’s will, I think it’s selfish to keep this negative attention focused on her family.

The lady who stole the signs was on WRAL today, I just caught the story mid-way through. The police said that she not only had her child with her, but she had her child get out and steal a sign or two as well. And she said she thinks she is being charged to make an example of her. Really? It has nothing to do with endangering your child? Hmmm. I doubt these folks will ever get that stealing and child endangerment are just plain wrong, or if they do, they won't admit it. Hopefully it will get posted on the WRAL site later, or maybe it will replay at 11pm.

I should have known that some people wouldn't be able to tell my post was tongue-in-cheek. I decided long ago that life is too beautiful to be so full of hate, fear, and ignorance towards those who are different from me. That has nothing to do with religion or following God's word. I find it sad that Christians everywhere are being judged by the acts of these type of people. I think they are in the minority, but they do things like this that incite people to be ugly to each other and draw attention their way for it.

proudsister, since you wanted to throw an insult my way, I'll do you one better. Instead of an insult, I send a prayer your way that you and your family will stop being so intolerant and disrespectful of others differences and will teach your children how to love others, even those you consider "sinners", like Jesus would do.

Well, I was going to vote for the amendment, but now that I see the complete lack of ethics and basic decency religious zealots display while ranting about judgement for all but their own crimes, I think I'll change sides and vote against. I want to thank the Thompsons for helping me make my decision. I hope that Moore Co. shows them that "the gays" ARE welcome here and their type of hatred and ignorance is not. Folks, I guess I'll be seeing ya in The Lake Of Fire.

I think the plan looks great as is. There are still 3 tennis courts, and the basketball court is so well used I can't imagine getting rid of it. The only thing I think may be a nice addition is a sort of walking path around the outer perimeter that doesn't require walkers or child bike riders to cross over a parking lot entrance. I could see people enjoying a nice, aesthetic walk in the park with strollers or small kids riding their bikes.

emb6683, not even funny and completely inappropriate.

I am just completely disgusted with people anymore. There are not enough out there who seem to have any common sense left.

My condolences to the Hussey family.

And I agree with the poster that said the first sentence could be structured differently. Just substitute "tree" for "one" and it will make more sense, and I think won't be as crude.

My thoughts and prayers for the victim and his family. I hope he recovers well, it sounds like he has a long road to travel if he has to be hospitalized for weeks. It's terrible that someone has such little disregard for a persons life, there was no need to shoot the guy who is just trying to work and get by. It could happen to anybody. It's scary how many violent crimes have been going on recently, I hope these criminals are caught and put down, whether by the police or by a citizen with good aim. It would be doing society a favor.
