Looking at the priorities we have in this country alone, I am more concerned about our own issues such as our country's national debt, economic malaise, loss of individual liberties and education of our youth.
Please note that there are jobs associated with the production of perfumes and cosmetics whether manufactured on or offshore.
The U.S. is the MOST generous nation on earth with funds coming from the federal till or charitable organizations. We even fund the biggest joke in the world, the United nations, which is collection of third world thugs.
You should also be aware that the majority of foreign aid to third world countries is diverted to the dictators running that particular country. If you check the accounts in Switzerland, you will find the the assets of luminaries such as Robert Mugabi, Charles Taylor, General Sani Abacha, Laurent Kabila and , Idi Amin Dada.
Please spare us the guilt trip on the lack of largesse that the first world provides, especially the U.S. as it falls on deaf ears for me. Economic development follows education and democracy, none of which most third world countries are willing to embrace.
If his previous convictions were non-violent and he wasn't violating parole, let's move on. If he's a habitual criminal, you're right, let's lock him up. I'm all for swift and severe justice but we need to keep an eye out for dangerous criminals like the article below with felony fleeing from justice and gun charges. Too many violent criminals are not being locked up for a very long time leaving the citizenry at risk. Let's make space for the murderers, child molesters, rapists and armed robbers.
Your reference to the Thomas/Hayes affair, Thomas had the grace to resign although state ethic laws do not address having a romantic relationship and sharing an apartment as a violation. Thomas has already released 130 emails between Thomas and Hayes showing no influence whatsoever.
Your other reference to the Hobbs/Plunkett romantic relationship with Hobbs resigning in May was also not covered under state ethics laws.
What I can say at least is that Thomas took quick action upon learning of the relationships and took decisive and appropriate action which would not have taken place with the Dems.
So far, no indictments or convictions on either so spare me the vitriole.
Finally, I'm assume you're referring to the 11:00PM vote by the NC Legislature to approve fracking in NC. If the Democrats can't get their people on the floor for an important vote, it's not the GOP's problem. Crocidile tears as you probably didn't like the outcome of the vote.
ObamaCare is another example of where this country has been moving over the last 70-years.
We are a nation of ever-increasing "rights" with ever-decreasing responsibilities as citizens.
I love to watch MSLSD on Saturdays and Sundays where they talk about "social contracts" and "investments" which are really code words for expanding governments with fewer rights for citizens who act responsibly:
Examples:
I pay my own entire monthly healthcare premium although it's extremely expensive and painful. I don't expect the government to provide me with insurance;
I pay my mortgage even though I financed it at a 75% LTV and it's underwater now. I don't expect the government to bail me out;
I paid my student loans out of college although it wasn't easy for me during my first couple years out of college. I didn't look for the government to come up with a plan to reduce this liability;
I pay my federal income, state income, municipal property taxes and sales taxes willingly BUT, I expect the government NOT to waste these funds on wasteful plans such as ObamaCare.
WHAT I WILL NOT STAND FOR IS A PRESIDENT WHO SAYS I'M NOT PAYING MY FAIR SHARE AND EXPECTS ME TO KICK MORE INTO THE TILL WHILE NEARLY HALF THE ELECTORATE PAYS ZERO TAXES.
A good regional hospital but frankly, if I had anything real serious like cancer, I'd be up at Duke or UNC quicker than you know what through a goose. It's a proven long-term statistic that outcomes are statistically greater at large research/teaching hospitals. Same goes for open heart surgery. Finally, as for ortho or brain, Duke is one of the tops in the nation.
I hope they sentence him to probation, time served and restitution. It probably costs more to hold this guy in jail and to adjudicate this case. Not a violent crime and frankly, not very newsworthy.
A conservative, responsible and non-corrupt GOP majority in the legislature;
An incoming GOP governor who has proven and successful executive experience in the form if Pat McCrory;
A state budget that is finally under control;
Fracking.
Taking a look at the election of Bev Perdue, she really did the GOP in this state a favor. She was an empty suit that everyone knew was not up to the job. GOOD RIDDANCE.

JP,
Given the large rogues gallery of convicted Democrat governors and legislators, the GOP isn't too bad on a comparative basis.
See links below on this cast of characters or have you forgotten so quickly???

Village Considers Revised Downtown Improvement Plan
Tom,
Good and to the point writing as usual but you are probably getting to the point of "alright already".
A good term for this is:

Can we convict this clown fast and send him back for a long stretch at the Michigan City, IN Pen? No sense in keeping him here for his room and board.
