Village to Test New Review Process for Historic District
Don't worry doughnuts, they're working on it. Tufts had no idea what a wonderful parking lot the Village Green could be when he planted all those Longleafs.

First Bank to Move Headquarters to Southern Pines
Looking at their performance as of late, have to wonder how long it will be First Bank? Certainly is more attractive to potential buyers with a Southern Pines HQ.

Something's Wrong
Middleman 522 is correct. This all started in the '70s when people began to sue the doctors. OB/GYN's couldn't deliver a baby without the parents starting the "college fund" through a lawsuit. It just continued out of control until you have the mess we have today. In the not to far future people with money will receive healthcare and those without will simply survive the best they can.

Talking Trash
Actually the reason the landfills are lower is because most of the trash is ending up along our roadsides which are filthy. I haven't seen the inmate crews picking up in months. Do they still even do that? Whatever happen to Adopt-a-Hiway?

Pinehurst to Study Lowering of Speed Limits
I agree with LadyLynda, slow down and enjoy our beautiful village folks. Life is to short to rush around in a big hurry to get nowhere.

Pinehurst to Study Lowering of Speed Limits
25 mph is a reasonable speed for the Village streets. There are a lot of older people in and around Pinehurst. If you're looking for a faster lifestyle Fayettville is only 35 miles West.

On the Green: Village Moves Forward with Changes
Hi Oldtimer, no meds but probably am alittle cranky today. My statement was rather strong, but I know what can happen when we try to "improve" things that were just fine before. Hate to see beautiful trees come down to accomodate parking when there is a parking deck planned within the next few years. Also believe the National Historic Landmark designation is a nice attribute the Village should try to maintain. With a possible 6500 sq ft expansion of the Chapel planned as well as the Archives I'm afraid the Village Green will be anything but.

On the Green: Village Moves Forward with Changes
Why don't you go ahead and just get rid of all those stupid Longleafs Tufts planted over 100 years ago. There is probably enough room for a Mcdonalds with a play area for the kids. You could even leave a small grassy area for them to do cartwheels. Then you could clean off Marshall Park and squeez in a Walmart so they would have a place to shop when they are older. I thought the idea was to attract vacationing golfers with retirement in the near future. Young couples holding hands on a bench dream about Pinehurst someday, older established individuals can actually come here. I know, after you run out of room in the village, you could build soccer fields on #2. Just think of all the young familys that would come here for the tournaments. Seriously, keep it up and Pinehurst will lose its uniqueness and will be just another town.

Shame on Us
Hard to believe we need to actually amend our constitution in order to keep individuals of the same gender from trying to marry each other. I'll just be glad when Mr. Romney is leading our country, if gay marriage is moving "Forward" I for one prefer to stay where we are or even move "Back".
