Geoff: All the serious Armies, e.g. Israelis, Brits, Russians, Chinese tried and disbanded female infantry units. They were unsustainable. The geniuses at the US Army Training and Doctrine Command back in the 1970s decided it would be a great 'leap forward' to conduct co-ed Basic Combat Training. It went on for 18 pain-filled months across the Army training base, before even the generals had to throw in the towel. The establishment did everything in its power, to include arithmetic contortions to put female grading curves on physical fitness standards. Virtually all of them wore running shoes instead of combat boots, because their feet could not tolerate the (often reduced) combat loads. Then there were the realities of pregnancies, of fraternization, of all the dynamics that take place in a mixed, close living quarters environment ensued. Disaster then, disaster now. Take an honest, hard look at Navy combat readiness aboard ship halfway through a float. Ship's captains will tell you privately that their biggest headaches are about female-male dynamics, about pregnancy and that discipline is either a huge resource drainer or is just pushed under the rug and ignored, and everyone hopes they don't go to war on that watch. Horror stories are already beginning to emerge about the newest brain child of the Progressives in the Pentagon, female submarine crew members. The concept of women in the ground gaining combat arms is a loser. This has nothing to do with defense, but everything to do with politics and an ideology that MUST destroy the most effective fighting force ever known. Everyone serving in the combat arms knows it, but only the Marines have the deep integrity and sense of duty to be willing to say so publicly.

The military did not make this decision, the White House and its toadies in uniform did. There is a vast difference between armed females responding to episodic violent events, versus functioning and contributing to mission accomplishment in a sustained combat environment, e.g. weeks of non-stop operations in close contact with the enemy. Are there some who might perform to standard? Yes, there are. But, you'd have to expend exponential effort in recruitment, as compared to men, to produce what would be few in number, sustained by lowered standards, and novelty soldiers who create more distraction than they contribute to readiness on the ground. Progressives seem to think that military service is a jobs program for selected victim groups. Sorry, that sort of thing only flies in the Dutch Army or in a union shop. Lead. Follow. Or get the hell out of the way.

Dusty: Hey, that got you up off the rocker! If your associates support the Constitution of the United States, as written, they are more than welcome to join us.

By they way, the rally tomorrow at Ed's is more than a "gun rally", a term that the Pilot has elected to use. But, it is much more than that. It is a coming together of men and women willing to be transparent about their dedication to protecting the Constitution, and the Second Amendment, the amendment that serves as the Body Guard of the Bill of Rights. (Surely, you remember the Bill of Rights from law school.) Without the guarantee of an armed, law abiding citizenry, the rest of our freedoms will be fading memories to coming generations of serfs of the state. Stalin, Hitler, Mao, the Castro Brothers, Pol Pot et al all knew that the key to enslaving the people was gun control and outright confiscation, the Holy Grail of the latter and of today's Progressives. The difference among all those other countries is that their founders did not have the foresight and understanding to actually hand their citizens the keys to their own freedoms for safe keeping. No despot, no opportunist, no Democrat could conceive of entrusting We The People with the freedoms codified for us by our sainted Founders. May God grant us the good sense and the courage to fight to keep them alive and burning in the souls or our grand children and for many generations after this whole Obama Presidential coup d'etat danger has been defeated.

TF121: " AR15 is a civilian version Assault Rifle. AR : Assault Rifle. Look up the definition of a "assault" folks. "

Here is a prime example of folks moving their lips and not knowing what they are saying.

The meaning of AR in AR-15 is ARMALITE RIFLE, Armalite being a subsidiary of Colt Manufacturing and the company that produced the first AR-15s fifty years ago.

Perhaps you should attend the Sandhills Constitution and Second Amendment Day, and actually learn something about our rights that " ... shall not be infringed." on Saturday.

By the way, according to the National Transportation Safety Administration more than 3000 Americans have died on our highways since the Newtown tragedy, and a tragedy it was. Yet, there is no hue and cry demanding that all occupants of a moving vehicle be required to wear a Government-approved crash helmet,, that must be inspected annually for a small fee concurrent with annual auto inspections.

Also, more that 45,000 innocent children have been summarily executed, with US Government approval, and even encouragement, via abortionists ... oops, pro-death technicians.

Blockquote

GJohn: The police are trained, organized and equipped to arrive just in time to count bodies and put up yellow tape, so that clinical technicians can apply their arcane skills, and so the quiche luncheon lawyers and sub-species politicians can stick their beaks into what remains. At ten feet or less, my great-grandmother with a gun is more effective than the police who are minutes away from discovering the carnage. I'd rather arm my lawful American educator neighbor with a concealed weapon than turn every school into a grotesque TSA-like environment, better suited to a high security prison.

Newtown, Connecticut ... the logical outcome of the toxic Progressive culture.

In the final analysis, we are confronted with the notion that 96% of the population of North Carolina are expected to change the criteria that has defined marriage and the family for 5000 years. Why we should change that to accommodate the passing deviant fads of 4% of the population has not been convincingly argued. The tortured logic that contrives to fabricate so-called 'rights' in this matter cannot stand up to an examination of the US Constitution. North Carolinians will underwrite that reality on Primary Election day.

So, let's get this straight ... 96% of North Carolinians are expected to scuttle the definition of and criteria for marriage, one that has held society together for 5000 years, so that 4% can practice whatever deviant behavior with whatever life form is fashionable at the moment? On top of that, we will be required to fund this evolutionary dead end life style? Not with my vote, and not with my tax dollar!

I forgot to mention that there is a psychological dead end component to all this, as well.

The other side of the issue is a 5000 year long cultural, historical and moral underpinning that is destroyed by this proposed social experiment. Gay marriage is a dead end morally, culturally and socially. It is traditional marriage, the last vestige of societal sanity, that is being encroached upon.
