I don't know the sheriff personally, but I've always been impressed with MCSO. That typically speaks volumes about the character and leadership of the man at the top. Time for him to learn how to fly fish. Enjoy life, bro.
Forgive me while I vent for a minute, but this is not a matter of declining incomes in their patrons; rather, it's due to a poor business acumen that seems to plague so many small businesses around here. First Health's gym in Pinehurst costs $65 for one month (a little less if you commit to a few months at a time), and they are usually quite packed inside, so there must be other reasons why The Body Shop has failed.
How come I've lived here for 6 years and this is the first I've heard of them? You can't have zero marketing/advertising and just expect people will come from word-of-mouth or drive-by curiosity. Get creative. Today by Golden Corral I saw a kid jumping up and down on a mattress trying to sell beds (I assume). You have to do stuff like that. Also, look at the front of the building. It looks like a Fayetteville-style dry cleaner/sew shop/barber with all those two-dollar stickers covering the windows and a faded sign on top. The inside might be immaculate, but many people won't set foot in it because it looks like a men's bathhouse from the outside.
Bottom line, you have to take the money you make and reinvest it correctly back into your business by advertising and making constant improvements. Everyone around here whines about large corporate chains taking over everything, but many small business owners don't want to put in the hard work and humility it takes to compete. "Southern charm" can only get you so far. Eventually you have to produce a better product/service for a comparable price with excellent customer service; aka––the basics.
"he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name." (Revelation 13:16-17)
Of course this policy is not the mark of the beast, but it's a glimpse.
Time for these vets to just hike up their skirts and get over it. You have your monument, now don't whine because you can't control the view in the background. You don't like it, then pony up the money and buy it yourself. Your poor attitude and demeanor don't speak for this veteran. There are FAR bigger problems we are facing these days.
Laugh it up, Ms. Salomon. Hurricane/TS Isaac, which did very little to Tampa, killed 29 in people in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, killed at least 7 in the US and did millions of dollars in damage. Hilarious isn't it?
Yet you are strangely silent about the fact that as the Democratic convention started, the US Debt Clock soared passed the $16,000,000,000,000 mark.
Your turn Toda. Out of all the popular commenters on The Pilot, I would most love to see you make a video like this. I'll even hold the camera for you.
The Pilot should've included you in one of the dance scenes. I'd pay money to see that.

Robbins Looks to Increase Business with Minority Firms
Is Robbins really in such a position where they can conduct race-based bidding?
I thought racism was bad?
I'm sure there is some state or federal grant they are fishing for.
