Well...wherever...I can tell you that County land offers no revenue for the town. None. Any business on any land in town is revenue for the town and the County. Why would we, the taxpayers, want to hold onto land we are not using? Keeping land for the sake of keeping it is no different than paying taxes on land you are not using. Even though the county pays no revenue to Carthage, it is losing money for every piece of land COUNTY WIDE that it retains when marketable. Whatever...hopefully they will buy something else close by if you want to act like congress. Just don't screw it up...we have citizans having Bo attacks. I hope you have a leg to stand on. Keep us abreast. Don't make us wing it.

Carthage has a gift in the form of a plaque mounted on granite, from France honoring McConnell who flew for the LaFayette Esquidrille in WW1. (actually before we entered the war) Anyway, it sat in front of the "Rock" building which is also known as the community building. People were concerned, including myself, that the monument should not be moved to McConnell Airfield where Pik-N-Pig is located. 3 weeks before the vote, I placed 4 quarters and a note on a small piece of paper under the coins on the plaque. It read "If you are reading this, thank you for visiting, and these coins are yours!" I went back two days before the meeting and the note and coins were there. I actually expected a sarcastic note (I would have) but the truth probably is that no one visited it in 3 weeks. At the Pik-n-pig location (Still town owned and on loan only) it is viewed by thousands. It really is. Our last American WW1 pilot (from W.V.)died just before the dedication. I know Roland contacted him and he was thrilled at the prospect of it being seen. Still, it is not a bad thing to be concerned. Vets from every war have seen terrible things, but I wonder if anything has ever been more damaging than the lethal words and spit bestowed upon the vietnam vets? It's ok to question what goes around the memorial, but after the hell our vets have seen, don't worry about the land...it's just land. That leads to number 3...we just use the land while we are here. We should take care of it. Most likely it was land the native americans were on and didn't bother building a courthouse, filing a deed, and fencing in.

I don't like that stance, but bless my heart...it's a free country. As always, I do like his articles just for the humor. I don't like the far right's stances either. That is why I think this was a funny article. I always liked stuff like "Spy vs. Spy"(Mad Magazine) and anything humerous with opposite poles. Dusty is not going to change the mind of one single reader on here. Not one. 80 percent of the people who voted in the Democratic primary choose Obama. He was the only choice. The 20 percent who did not choose him speaks with higher volume. If the republicans would have chosen a really good person to run, it would be a win. Romney is same old same old We will see how that works out...neither thrill me. I will vote for a Republican Gov. In current news, Bev Perdue actually trumped John Edwards in making NC look stupid. Democrats can talk about things and form committees to oversee committees because committees are not inclusive of committee phobic people. Republicans try craming things they call "Forward" like fracking down our throats. If it ruins our water, how far did we go? 1400's? The article, understanding it is Dusty, is funny. Laugh a little, even if you are one of the crusty folks he is talking about.
Have you ever done anything other than talk? (well...hide and talk) The mural board on the left is barely started and the others are ok...sure need help. But not as dramatic as you make it sound. People have been honest about the murals. We have artists coming out now who want to paint others. (There are at least 5 good walls to paint with owners permission.) Seriously, have you ever really helped do anything? Bchin is not helpful. Especially when you insult the majority who say otherwise. The murals are a start, and better than what was there. You just either put your work or money where your cyber mouth is, or stay with your putter boy shrub. We are doing fine without you.
