Thatcher, you know what your point is. We know what your point is. You are using a very questionable tact to belittle what our President has said. Time to give it a rest and move on to using something else.

fugitiveguy, re: Reggie Mantle. Same could be said for the Brainless_Spock.

Hey, you guys on the far right have convinced me. We absolutly, positively must have a valid photo ID to insure that every vote is legit. We do not want any fraudulent votes cast. We know that illegal aliens have the ability to obtain fake drivers licences so we can expect that fake voter photo ID's will be just as easy to obtain. Therefore, we need a high-tech, tamper proof photo ID that cannot be duplicated. One that has encrypted information embedded that provides the security necessary to insure a non-fraudulent vote. Of course, since this type of voter photo ID does not currently exist, everyone currently eligible to vote must be required to obtain one, at no charge, once they have been perfected and become available. These voter photo ID's must be up-dated at no charge each time a voter experiences a change in status (new address, new married name, etc.). The voter photo ID must also be renewed every 12 years, at no charge, to keep up with the aging process (provide a more current image of the voter). I submit that if a photo ID is necessary to cast a vote, then this is the best procedure for insuring that the photo ID accomplishes its intended goal. One downside to this process is that NO mail-in voting or absentee voting would be permitted. Each voter must present themselves to their assigned voting precinct in order to cast their ballot. A small inconvenience for insuring that no fraudulent votes are cast.

Maybe all those displaced workers built themselves a boat and went to work for the IRS in Cincinnati.

Maybe the old saying should be changed. "We have met the enemy and he is us" might be better said as: "We have met the enemy and he is the god we created".

bufordsplay, you better re-read what DaveyNC wrote. He was complimenting the immigrant who worked hard to accomplish his success. In your ignorance, you are saying that people like that are ruining this country.

DaveyNC, I admire all who work hard, follow the rules and find success. I think the part you're missing is the fact that not everyone in this country is able or willing to be an entrepreneur. Some people just want to go to work, do a good job, collect an honest paycheck, have time to spend with their family, be good citizens and enjoy their life outside of work. I'll be the first to admit that taking the risk to start a business involves investing money (both your own and others) and spending whatever time it takes to make it a success. Those who succeed hire the people who I've described above. It takes both the boss and the worker to keep the enterprise moving forward. When the boss moves the company off shore to maximize profits and provide for a ROI for the investors, the workers are left up a creek without a paddle or a boat. Everyone cannot become a successful business owner regardless of how much effort they put into it. Like anthills, there are only a few queens and many workers. Those who took risks and followed the rules to get where they are deserve all that they have accomplished. The folks who worked to help them get there do not deserve to just be thrown overboard.

gailnov13, unfortunatly, skylinefirepest does not know me or my financial standing. Rich...I am not. That is why I always encourage everyone to "SIMPLIFY". I live by the motto: To make yourself rich, make your wants few. Skyline and I have an ongoing disagreement about firearms. His "wants" involve having them. Mine do not. On the subject of his being a journalist, I don't think he would make a very good one given his overuse of the word "dude". As for lunch, I'll go if we meet at a place I have a coupon for.

DaveyNC, "A rising tide lifts all boats" is a true statement. Trouble is, only 10% of the population has a boat.

I agree with Ms. Hanley's letter as well as the column from Ms. Salomon. We all truly need to simplify our lives.

And skylinefirepest, old buddy, how is donating clothes made in China to Goodwill to "help a lot of people in the long run" any different than using money borrowed from China to fund social programs? Are you now saying you are in favor of that? Ain't it funny how you have to be careful to not shhot yourself in the foot when promoting causes.
