I love it when ignorance rules! Let's see, I pay for healthcare insurance from a private company, Aetna. Each year I get to choose the policy that best fits my family's needs. A panel of non-government profit oriented bureaucrats get to decide what treatment gets covered. Insurance in 2013 sounds a lot like most every other year of my life. Damn you Obama!
Generally, I'm fine with change, chain stores/restaurants, and growth. So, it is difficult to comment on this particular development without knowing more. However, Midland Road is one of the beautiful spaces in our area. Sure, many of us came here for affordable housing, moderate weather, and golf, but we also came here for the balance of small town quaintness with a surprising amount of amenities. There are other places to retire that offer oceans, zero state income tax, beauty, and golf affordably. As seen for a while now (and acknowledged by Pinehurst folks in their shift away from promoting the area for retirees), people are not rushing to move here like 15 years ago. This inland oasis is fragile, we should not treat it carelessly. Maybe this plan makes sense, but 70 dwellings on those 16 acres doesn't really sound like it at first blush.
wdd- The lies being told about Obamacare were/are told be the media? Are we talking about FOX? And how about the right wing propaganda machine? If you guys put as much time into finding solutions to real problems as you did complaining about the imaginary, the country could work towards making improvements!
Thatch- Sorry the question went over your head! I'll try and simplify for you. Those of us who run businesses use all sorts of "tools" that have been paid for by others. Sure, we have contributed a little, but only a minuscule portion. We could never make a living if we had to carry the whole cost burden ourselves.
Pack- As you can re-read again up above, the government working with private industry side-by-side as complimentary partners is the answer. We need both. How's this for an original thought, we need balanced solutions. Which party leader is promoting that?
Pack- The shift in wealth, from the many to the few, tracks pretty good with the lowering of the taxes on the rich. Executive comp has risen tremendously while worker income has not. Maybe that has a little to do with union membership in the private sector being at historical lows. But hey, free markets know what's best!

Obama Hell-Bent on Bankruptcy?
"Over the past three decades, the wages of median workers have remained essentially the same, adjusted for inflation, while the wages and the wealth of the top one percent have skyrocketed." http://business.time.com/2013/02/01/is-middle-class-stagnation-really-a-myth/?xid=newsletter-daily
