To all the right wing conservatives who post on this web site and who have spent the last four years in a state of hate: THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN.

Turns out the guy who "knows how to create jobs" couldn't create one for himself and the guy who "never held a real job" got to keep his.

You now have the next four years to find someone to blame. (Hint: Pause in front of a mirror).

No need to write ugly retorts, this post is a one shot deal for me. I'm not about to rejoin this circus.

Hey there, Yukonjohn: Well, we don't totally disagree on this subject. You do agree with me that gun control is required. When you say felons should not have access to firearms, you are saying that a "control" must be placed on their ability to have a gun. Now that we agree on that, all we need do is to apply that same thought process to other gun related problems, like the one mentioned in your linked news article. I guess the biggest difference we have is in our acceptance of gun violence. I fail to find anything "funny" about someone being shot. And I certainly don't consider it to be a "polite society" that shoots someone who is backing away from a confrontation. Your linked news article kind of makes my point, don't you think?

Unrelated to the subject, hope you enjoyed your visit back to NC. I am making a decision to stop posting on the Pilot website, effective with this last post. I find that there are a dozen or so who post here regularly, each with their own agenda or political stance, myself included. We hash and re-hash the same viewpoints day after day and nobody is going to be influenced or "converted" by the statements of the other. I find myself getting frustrated by the inability of the others to see my viewpoint and I'm sure the others feel the same about me. All it does is make my blood pressure go up and I end up saying ugly, insensitive things I sometimes regret later. I have enjoyed the discussions that you, Thatcher and I have had. The two of you are class guys. So, as the rich guys say on the TV show, Shark Tank.....I'm out.

Mike, no problem here with Law Enforcement Officers having all the firepower they need to do their job. My comment was directed at the NRA membership in general and I stand by my comments.

I'm still waiting for a proposal from anyone out there: How do we keep guns out of the hands of criminals without implementing some form of gun control?

I agree that Augusta National has every right to maintain their men only membership status. The people who could help to sway a change in that policy are....women. I noted a large contingent of women in the gallery during the recent tournament, including the CEO of a major sponsor. At this point in time, women seem to have no problem with the current membership arrangement. If they ever do decide to take on the men only policy, all they need do is boycott all activities. Don't go there to eat or dance, don't go there to attend golf tournaments and don't be a patron or sponsor of any of their events. The easiest way to sway anything is to effect the "bottom line".

John, you just described the reasons why the NRA has so many members. It's a drug that makes you feel powerful.

This is a reply to geoffcutler and is a carryover from a thread that came to an end before I could reply to his comments about me. To refresh his memory, the post in question included the following comment: "... just do something besides whine about our military, the flaws you see in our constitution, or how not enough is being done for you. Just do something...anything."

Your inference in that post is that you are a giver and I am not. We know you are a giver because you spent a entire column and several follow up posts describing just how much you give. We get it Geoff, you are a big humanitarian because you told us what a big humanitarian you are. Real humanitarians don't spend a lot of ink telling everyone how wonderful they are. They just quietly and privately go about doing it. As a result, you have no freaking idea what any of us give of our time and funds. What I have to say about our military is far from a "whine". The military needs to be brought back home and the individuals who have committed atrocities need to be prosecuted. If there are no flaws in the constitution, why do we have so many amendments to it? Were you in favor of slavery? Did you think women should not vote? Why I believe that it is you that is in favor of adding an amendment to the NC constitution. And I have no idea what the hell you are talking about when you make idiotic comments about wanting anything done for me. When have I ever said anything even close to that? When you run out of ideas, you make stuff up.

So bentpan, does your "traditional marriage" include a guide to what activities are permitted between the man and the woman? Since you find lovemaking between gay couples "aberrant human behavior", how do you feel about oral and/or anal intercourse between a man and a woman. Anything repulsive about that in your view? How about masturbation? Did Jesus give you the go-ahead on that?

Thank you for your contribution to the discussion, Ms. Sutton. And I always enjoy interesting questions. Can't wait to see some of the responses.

I'll bet it was a Christian that did it and they don't think it's wrong because they do stuff in the name of God. Doing stuff in the name of God makes it OK (unless a non Christian does it in the name of a god not sanctioned by Christians).

geoffcutler reminds me of the time, way back when I was a Catholic and went to church and I would see certain individuals at Sunday Mass. They always arrived with a great flourish, nodding to everyone as they made their way down the isle to their front pew position. They would sing the loudest, recite the responses just a little sooner than everyone else and would always be the first to stand, kneel or sit. They made a very big show of their religion, it was good for their ego and, in some case, good for their business or their politics. Fact is, they were no more or no less religious than any others, they just wanted you to notice them. (And for those keeping score, the number to beat is $61.03).
