Mr. Nagy, I understand you work for The Pilot and wish to present a point of view that you believe differs with Mr. Davis's account of happened at his home. You even say you "pursued" it. What is bothering me is that you have done what you set out to do, so why keep at the story unless it is to sell newspapers or advance your online viewership? Once you cross that line, The Pilot becomes a tabloid newspaper, not a source of objective information. Since you plan to offer another edited version of the 911 call, when viewers already heard the entire call, what is the purpose? Does that "wish the Davis family only the best," as you claim? The information is out there. Why keep at it? Let The Pilot be a fine newspaper, not a source for derision.
Soporesident, well said. Moore County has so many issues that needs to be addressed. Let's address them! Enough with this 911 call that even Mr. Nagy said some parts should not have been legally released. All the best to Mr. Davis and his family. Let him continue his campaign based on the issues.
I am so disappointed in The Pilot. It's like you've got a story and you won't let it go. Don't we have enough information about the incident now? Are you trying to destroy a family? Let it go!
Tommy, hang in there. Don't let these bullies get you down. They are small-minded people who like to kick someone when they think he's down. Every day will get better for you and your wife. Good luck with your campaign! I'll be praying for you.
Here's something else to consider: how about all the domestic unions already in place, some of which are heterosexual? What happens to the children involved? Their parents may lose medical benefits or the right to make important legal decisions for each other. I am a Christian, but I don't see the need to legislate what constitutes domestic partnerships. It is a matter of conscience.
Sally, you are 100% correct. Mr. Levey is an embarrassment to the Republican Party writing that he is in awe of Rush Limbaugh because of his many talents (paraphrased). What talent did he show with Ms. Fluke? Vile name-calling? This young woman had every right to testify before Congress and offer her opinions about insurance coverage without Rush calling her a slut, and Mr. Levey, the father of daughters, condones that? And this is the party of family values? No thanks, I'll stay an independent where I can make up my own mind about issues.
Dusty, I had read about this incident in a British online newspaper, The Mail Online. The US agents came across as pretty dumb, if you'll excuse my blunt term. The British already see America as uneducated and unworldly, and this incident pretty much confirmed it in their eyes.
Lois, what a heart-warming story, especially the part about David. You handled that so beautifully, and I was very touched. I have some Christmas cards to recycle but the problem is that more and more people are turning to technology to send their Christmas wishes, so I don't have the amount I used to. Thanks for a wonderful idea, though, that will benefit others!
Ronnie, I commend you for all your kindness. We often hear of neighbors who barely know each other, and Ronnie certainly proved that wrong. Good begets good and I know something wonderful will happen for you in the new year. Thank you, Betty, for your lovely letter as well.
What a great story. It really melted my heart Christmas morning. I know I need to do more for needy and disabled children in the area. Thanks, Jim, for showing me the way!
