You mean like our current Governor who played the same accounting games as Easley did? Like Mark Basnight? Like Pat M (Rep. candidate for governor did) - The system is dirty, the system is broken, and still it seems the only way to get an audience with a top offical is to round up a bunch of "donors", or give free "overpriced" flights.
Deals were made that we will never know of. One question though how does it seem that every politician who comes to any significant power always seems to increase their personal wealth when they are in office.
Dirty, Dirty, Dirty. If you are a public servant you should have to suffer for the privledge, NOT GAIN FROM IT!
Whatever happens in this case will not make a difference to anything at all. The system is broken and cannot be fixed unless tougher penalities are placed on both the givers and receivers of this kind of money.
What just happened to Mike Easley shows the problems. Yes he has a felony and will have to give up his law license, but the man should be serving hard jail time. Governor Perdue did the same things that Easley did, and she will get a fine, maybe a slap on her wrist.
Any public servant who takes illegal money (or suspicious money) should have to return the money, pay fines and in most cases go to jail if there is any attempt to conceal their guilt.
The time has come for this money madness to end for both parties. The public trust is gone, your creditibility is toast and time has come to change the system.

And if Mr. Juarez is an illegal (bet you is) then this is a tragedy that could have been avoided.
How did he own a car? How did he get a drivers license? How did he get a car tag? How did he get insurance? How did a 19 year old get that much liquor and think he could drive that fast?
Why can we not find illegals and get them out of this country? If we just would enforce the laws on the books then this problem would not be happening.

Pinehurst is the 800lb animal in the room. They want a bypass built so bad that they are going to try and flood as much traffic into the Traffic Circle as fast as possible, and then demand the Pinehurst Bypass be built.
If you own property between Foxfire and Pinehurst prepare for it to be cut in half in the near future.
What will be interesting is why in heck is the a project that even deserves funding? What is the purpose of widening 211? What good will it do? Who benefits? Why when the State of NC is facing a 3 BILLION DOLLAR HOLE IN THE NEXT BUDGET is this project even going forward. If you want to do anything just add another lane and make it a 3 lane road with some passing areas. This is just another example of who inefficient the DOT is run, how our tax dollars are wasted, how badly a project can be run, and what kind of god awful mess 211 will be for the next 2 -5 years.
Oh by the way Say Goodbye to the 1000s of trees that will have to be cut down for this project.
Enough is Enough can this project and try to find another place to waste money.

I choose not to cast a meaningless ballot for a really nice guy who speaks well, but is really just marking time. It was a really sad primary when Mr. Coble was basically re-elected at that time. We need a representative who has a really good eraser instead of a sharp pencil. My only hope is that Mr. Coble will not run again after this cycle. I would rather see him retire with what honor he has left than to see the Governor appoint his successor. We need a younger sharper conservatitve who will go to Washington and fight to control spending, not to hang out in Hollywood.

Why Aren't More Seats 'in Play'?
As always the rule is vote the other guy out because our guy is not the problem. I have not voted for Howard Coble for the past 3 election cyctles.
