Thatcher, I cannot believe that the members of the democratic party in Moore county follow Jim Heim to the toilet. He calls you a liar and me an irresponsible gun owner and a criminal. My son is taught by me as a father to respect firearms wherever he finds them. I don't care about some state law that requires me to secure firearms from minors accessing them. I don't need a law to do that, it's common sense. All of my firearms are safely secured from intruders. Jim can infer anything he wants into a post but that does not make it so. His hatred of firearms is well noted by anyone that posts on this site. He needs to stop assuming things as fact before he posts. Thatcher, keep on going. Clear heads need to be heard not the left liberal dogma.

Good story Fred. I too had my shoulder worked on and it was my left and I'm a leftie. The part of the recovery that had me losing weight was the pain drugs the doctor gave me. those suckers put me OUT!!!!! My wife told me that I slept for about 3 days straight. Lost about 8 pounds but nothose lost pounds found their way home. CRAP!!!!!
I don't feel that a 5yr old should have a firearm. I also think that you should have a child go to a firearm safety class as soon as possible. Eddy Eagle is a great class and they're free. Any child should use firearms while an adult is right next to them and ONLY then. My son is 11 and never touches any firearm in our house without me present. Safety first, Safety second, and Safety ALWAYS!!!! That's good advice.
Jim Russell44- I attend an event each year that is sponsored by the NRA and I don't carry concealed while I'm there. The event has alcohol served at it and that makes it against the current N.C. Laws. Can't say anything about the NRA Headquarters as I've never gone to it.
I heard from a wise old German once, that you should NEVER make a threat that your not prepared to follow thru on. Guess with all that elite Ivy League scholars in the White House they some how never learned that lesson. Now the radicals see the US as weak and have proof.

The extremists hate us because we in the west feel that freedom is probably the greatest gift we have. Freedom of expression, religion, assembly, speech and all the rest. I have watched people get the crap beaten out of them in some of the worst places in the world and all because they had the balls to say what they thought, or they felt that the iman or the warlord was wrong on a issue. These are the reasons that we are hated. Here in our country we can shout out to anyone what we feel without fear of getting shot in the street by a warlord or a religious figure.
Our free and open society makes us truly amazing in many peoples eyes and strikes fear in the hearts of those that cannot understand those freedoms. The price for our society is high at times as with the recent bombings ,however, that is a price we as a people are willing to pay in order to remain a free society.

Do you get the feeling that Jim Heim is a bit of a zealot where it concerns firearms? I will never get where he feels that anyone caring concealed is automatically a vigilante waiting to blow away the bad guys. I feel glad that people like Jim have never seen the evil in the world. I have seen it and feel that an armed person is a citizen and an unarmed one is a victim waiting to happen.
