Deb thought the article was a bit of pie in the sky wishful thinking. America has become the largest consumers in the world and every merchant is trying to out do the competition. Low prices are the way to crush your rival. Our national desire to have low cost clothing does not translate to the US being responsible for the deaths of the garment worker in another country. That tragedy lies at the feet of the owners of the building that have broken any number of laws to get more money from the building. Uninspected building is a rampant problem in the third world and not the problem of America or it's consumers.
DeeAnn, nice point of view as to the cost of combat. My Dad served in Korea and went to Vietman for 3 tours. The war that affected him the worst was Korea. He was at the Chosin reservoir during the pullout of the 8thArmy. The night time temps were -20 degrees and the orphan kids would huddle together for warmth. To the day he died the man could not watch the Christmas classic "A Christmas Carol". The character Tiny Tim was a reminder of those horrible memories. The names of the men that died during that war always brought tears to his eyes. The physical wounds are easy to spot and treat, but the memories are the worst ones to heal.
JimHeim, did we not see Hillary get on TV to say that it takes a village to raise a child touting her great masterpiece. Insert snickering here. She also told the American public that the American dream of home ownership should be expanded, and told her hubby to do something about that issue. Short term memory going poorly for you bob? Was that brought on by to many shots to the head or too much pot use?? Don't forget, Hillary knows what is best for America. If you need proof then just ask her!!!! Wait, we can't do that because at this point what difference does it make!!!!
Nice ideas on a complex issue. Straight forward approach to an issue that I feel is much needed. So one question I have is: Why is this topic not on the most popular list???
Bob, read the article and I differ with you on the conclusion. Banks failed due to the "It takes a village to raise a child" mentality of the democrats then in the White House. Why should the banks not play fast and loose with depositors money when the people in charge are already doing the very same thing? The American Dream is a thing I still believe in to this day. I also believe that you need to be able to pay your bills before you achieve it.
Hey all you good conservative fellows, do you see the 2 different ways that Jim Heim has a fit about voter ID laws? First he bleats about the poor and old and minorities getting left out of the voting process if we pass voter ID laws. Then in the next sentence he tells us not to do that as the disenfranchised will turn out in droves if it passes. So which is it, a bad thing or a good thing??? The conservative folks here in Moore County just want EVERY voter to get up off their butts and take an active part in the single most important right every citizen has and that is to vote.
Kevin, read the article and found it a good read. Some personal points make for a dramatic scene that can pull in the reader. I still don't see how a requirement to show a photo ID can be such a huge pain for so many voters. Not one soul is trying to marginalize the minority vote, if anything this ID requirement will galvanize the minority community to unite and bring out their members to vote. Now ask yourself, How is a greater minority voter turnout a BAD thing??? Shoot this might be the very thing to turn the tables in your favor and allow better representation in the political arena. Just one man's opinion.
Hey, Jim I've got an idea for you. Why don't you attend a Moore County Board of Education meeting sometime and ask those people what they think about Common Core? Maybe those elected officials can bring some light on the subject. Just an idea from a right wing nut or a troll which ever you prefer.
Well Jim then you need to open your bloody eyes and not assume so much. I stand by my previous posts as they stand. If YOU ASSUME that those very posts prove to YOU that I'm a irresponsible gun owner then that is your ASSUMPTION. As I have said get your facts straight before you post. Thatcher how do you think the left sees your points on their lack of standing on the gun issue. Well I like how they are now attacking the methods that the study was done under and implying that the science was flawed. As well as calling you a liar. Man o Man where do they get those ideas?????
