“Senate defeated a bill to expand background checks for gun buyers.” How can anyone believe that the bill was actually supposed to pass? That vote was just theater, an opening act for the next election.
It was a way for Democrats to set themselves up as being for gun control but not exactly pass it. This way they can run on gun control in the next elections. Drag this out for the next two to three years then campaign that if you vote Democrat they will pass gun control.
You cannot stop violence so you will not stop gun violence. Unless, you take away the guns. No guns, no gun violence. Sure there will be knives, baseball bats, piano wire, poison, any all the other ways we humans find to eliminate each other. But there will be no more gun violence.
I know it. The left knows it. The right knows it. So why does the control folks shy away from saying it? Could votes be part of the problem? Do they know that know that if they admit it they will lose votes?

I am sorry to keep you waiting. Some of us have to get up early and work late. Just as you must have ID to be able to do many other things in life, come Election Day you show your ID at the poll. The Personnel at the poll verify that the person in front of them matches the ID they presented. If that ID is fraudulent, then that person has just committed at least two crimes. So you say that does not stop people from voter fraud. Not that one no, the next one maybe, and the next one yes. You will get the marginal ones at first. The others you get later. Personally I do not think that you will ever stop election fraud. There is too much at stake. ID’s will make the easy fraud more difficult.
I do not understand why you do not want to be sure that your vote is not discounted by a vote that is not legal. People who vote differently than you can use the same method. Would you not want to stop them?

If you can't stop people and drugs crossing the border how do you plan to stop guns. Criminals find ways. Always have always will.
