Maybe because it isn't pertinent to the story. He is coming back to treat patients at Moore Regional and that was the reason for this press release. End of story.
Courseaire, you are a piece of work. I have read several of your comments here on the electronic version of the Pilot today and I only have one question for you....did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning???? No one is perfect. People make mistakes. You seem to be continually making ugly comments today directed toward everyone. Lighten up a bit!
Courseaire - I was kind of hoping other citizens would peek the next time they filled up and post here. I have a full time job so don't really have the time (or inclination) to drive all over the county looking!! Any takers?
I think we need to work on enforcing the speed limits that are already in place. I have watched school buses, UPS trucks and FEDEX trucks drive down my street at well over the 25 mph limit. While there are some areas that 25 mph might be inappropriate, I think it is appropriate in any residential area that is well developed. We have children playing, parents walking babies in strollers and bicyclists who deserve to be safe. I think we need to select our speed limits based on population density - those streets with houses few and far between could have slightly higher speed limits while those with a lot of houses close together could have the slower speed limit.
Have to agree with Bentpan....children who are raised by caring parents would not do that...and parents who care would make the children pick it up. Unfortunately there are a large number of people out there who feel like someone owes it to them to pick up after them. Hopefully there are more people who care than those who feel they are entitled.
I have been following Cooper's progress on Facebook since his surgery last fall. It is wonderful to see the progress he has made. Keep up the good work Cooper (and the whole Ellington family!). The power of prayer is a wonderful thing - and Cooper has had lots of people praying for him. Will continue to pray for a total recovery for this amazing young man!
Does anyone at the Pilot proofread these articles?
"Capital outlays of nearly $3 million are included in the budget. That represents and increase of $8184,800 from the current year budget, or 37 percent."
So there is an increase of over $ 8 million but the total budgeted is only $ 3 million? Would be nice to know what the real number is as this is obviously a typo.
I have another way to shorten the lengthy ceremony - don't let anyone speak - just call out names, hand out diplomas and leave. Better yet, why not just mail the diplomas to the graduates and save everyone at the school the inconvenience of having to attend a graduation ceremony! I think there might be more excitement paid to a high school graduation ceremony if we didn't have so many others before they get there. Preschool graduation, kindergarten graduation, middle school graduation, etc. I don't remember any of those when I was in school. We got promoted, went on summer vacation, and moved on! I feel that if the student body wants a speaker, then let them have a speaker. And I think their two choices were both good choices. While Dr. Spence has only been here a short time, he has been a school administrator for many years and I am sure he has some inspirational message to share with the graduates.
Donna, I am sorry someone you know has been arrested and charged with a crime. I understand your frustration. However, your comment about "I think if you are guilty of a crime you should be charged" - just being charged does not mean one is guilty. It means they have probably cause to arrest and charge one. Guilt or innocence will be determined in court - by a judge and/or jury. I do agree that the Pilot needs to print the final outcome of all cases, but I don't believe they need to apologize to anyone. They are just publishing the facts - and the fact is all 3 have been arrested and charged. Let the truth come out in court. I hope you are right and the one you know is not guilty.

Disturbing Language Overheard in the Waiting Room
I think Muggs has the same punctuation problem a previous poster to this site had. He sentences seem to be separated by commas instead of periods!
