I can't help but think if all you posters put your energy into more constructive things, Moore County would be a much better place for all - just my humble opinion.
As to Michelle Obama's vacation - I think some people are just upset because most people are taking "staycations" this year because of the economy and nor being able to afford anything else and the Obama's have taken a couple of vacations in recent months. Again, just my humble opinion.
RD - I reread the article twice...it very clearly says "Junior Varsity". Are you trying to imply there is some hidden meaning to "junior" varsity? You might explain and clue the rest of us in - please. I can remember a couple of years ago when Pinecrest's football program was having serious problems - so glad to see that turned around. GO PATS!
P.S. - I don't have a child in the school system here so I don't have any hidden agenda - just like to see any school turn their program around and do well. And my neighbors kids go to Pinecrest!
I hope you enjoyed your time at National Jamboree - it truly is a once in a lifetime experience. My son got to go several years ago (he is 29 now, so it has been several years!). He also met lots of new friends and traded lots of patches, including OA patches as he was also a member of OA (as am I). He took lots of pictures and we still have them to relive the experience. He got to celebrate his birthday at Jamboree - complete with a birthday cake that I could order online before he got there!
Keep working toward that Eagle Scout. My son earned his Eagle Scout also - I was one proud Mom at that ceremony and still have a shadow box on the wall to remember that whole journey.
Thanks for sharing with us thru the blogs. I know this has been an experience you will never forget.
OK, I am confused. I was born in the United States and as a US citizen I have to prove to a prospective employer that I have the right to work in this country. The way I read this, the illegals do not have to prove a darn thing??? There is something inherently wrong with this line of thought. And maybe if (and when) the federal government starts enforcing immigration laws the states would not feel compelled to take action into their own hands.
Almost makes me wonder if the Obama administration is doing this to justify something they have done - like maybe employed someone who is in this country illegally???? Makes one think.
I kind of like "GeorgiaMan"'s comments. I think Sandhills Community College is the perfect solution. But why pay professionals to plant the flowers? I think there is a horticulture program at the college. Let those students plan, prepare, plant and maintain the traffic circle flower beds, etc as part of their program. I think that would be a win-win situation for all involved!
They could start the plants in their greenhouse then move them to the traffic circle in the spring. And I think planting something that comes back every year instead of replanting every year makes even more sense. Surely those students in the program at SCC could come up with some great ideas. How about it, SCC????
My prayers go out to the entire Kelly family. As to the 4 young men in jail, I will refrain from commenting on what their punishment should be...let justice run it's course and pray for the right decisions there too. I am not sure that any of the 4 of them have what it takes to realize that they took a man's life...a courageous man who was trying to protect his wife from harm. Rest in Peace, Angus. And to Grace....one day at a time, one foot in front of the other....God will get you thru this. You are in my prayers!
I think a lot of people are missing the point. While the fire hydrant is placed in the right-of-way, every place I have ever lived (4 states and a foreign country) the homeowner/resident is responsible for the upkeep of the right-of-way and can be cited if said right-of-way is not kept clean and neat. I think the Major's biggest complaint is the mess that was left behind after he spent his hard earned money making the area in front of his house look nice. I think he has a valid complaint!
To the comments about his wife using his military affiliation to get sympathy - that is the biggest bunch of bologna I have ever heard. I am willing to bet her only reason for contacting the Pilot was to make everyone aware of what could happen to any of us.
As an Air Force veteran I would like to thank Major Greenblatt for his service to his country. May you return home to your family soon....and may your front yard be fixed before you get here! And to Mrs. Greenblatt, thank you for keeping things running here at home while the good Major is deployed.
