I just have to make an observation...I'm just curious how you get to bring your children to a Moore County school where Moore County taxes pay for these new buildings and fantastic charter schools when you live in Hoke? Maybe this is one way to eliminate our budgetary issues...verify addresses and visit homes to ensure that people that don't pay into the system can't get the benefit from it.

I was just commenting on the vehemence that was apparent in some of the above postings....as I stated, I have no problems with the charter schools, just public schools in general! (I went to public schools as well as my children and spouse)

a special thanks to jcinaberdeen to both your spouse and your family for making the needed sacrifices to fight for our country's freedom as well as others. God Bless you and our military!

I think many of the posters may take issue with charter schools in general because the same monies used to fund this school could be going to the "regular" public schools. (new, state-of-the-art $2.2 million facility) I have no issue with the charter schools vs. "regular" schools except for the obvious...my child goes to a school that is MUCH older than I (and I'm no spring chicken!) and her school (as all others in Moore County) faced and will continue to face major budgetary issues that call for the firing of teachers. The money used for the building of the new facility could've helped this deficit however I don't think closing this school now would solve any of MY problems with the school (maybe should have been done prior to the 2.2 million dollar facility being built). Radio talk show host Neal Boortz says the worst thing we do to our children in this country is send them to government schools and I'm beginning to agree with him! Good Luck to the teachers, students and administration of The Academy of Moore

The reason I ask your source is because I found this: http://gopleader.gov/UploadedFiles/a_tale_of_two_approaches.pdf

as well as this: http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/106xx/doc10689/hr3962ClarifyMeasuresBaucusLtr.pdf

and both state that the existing proposal by the senate would increase spending by $598 billion as opposed to reducing spending. (however, I did learn in statistics that you can make numbers say anything you want them to say so I don't put too much faith in them) I am just a concerned citizen... :-)

"According to the Congressional Budget Office, over 10 years the bill introduced by House Republicans would cover another three million Americans and shave $68 billion off the deficit. By comparison, the last bill proposed by House Democrats would cover another 36 million Americans and shave $104 billion off the deficit."

I'd love to know where you did your research to get these numbers you documented in your article.

this guy has never served any time for his offenses...only given probation. Parents sure have to do their homework these days because the justice system is so bogged down with drug offenders they choose not to house people that need to be kept away from society!

He has been on there...maybe because he's now incarcerated, they've taken him off. I have signed up with the NC Dept of Justice to receive emails when ever a sex offender moves away or moves into my general area. I got a notice on March 2 that he no longer lived in the home that was listed on the website and is now incarcerated. Here's a link: http://sexoffender.ncdoj.gov/details.aspx?SRN=004330S11

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." ~ Mark Twain

I choose not to blindly follow...can you say the same thing?

I wonder what TEA party event you attended commonsense77...the events I've attended have not shared the same sentiments that you have expressed on behalf of the TEA party attendees.

At this juncture, we still have the 1st amendment, so disagreeing with our government is as American as apple pie...no matter who wears the presidential crown!
